Greenville Spring Training Series is Back!

Feb 18th & 19th, 25th & 26th, & March 3rd & 4th.

Starting the weekend of February 18th, every Saturday & Sunday through March 3rd & 4th.  Don’t miss this chance to get your racing legs back into form for the spring season just ahead.  If you don’t want to race, come on out and cheer for the ladies of GHS Every Woman Cycling!

Come join us for “Girls Morning Out” on Thursdays at Carolina Triathlon in downtown Greenville.

Gather at 8:45AM so we can pedal promptly at 9AM. This 30-mile GS Élan ride is hosted every Thursday morning by GHS Every Woman Cycling Team & Carolina Triathlon. Road bikes & helmets required. First Sunday’s GS élan Beginner Women’s Ride led by GHS Every Woman Cycling Team & Carolina Triathlon. (on hiatus for the winter)

The first Sunday of every month, we’ll either tackle Paris Mountain together or ride a 30 mile loop.  This is a ride built for beginner to intermediate women to become comfortable riding in a group, tackling a mountain, and networking with other women cyclists.  Road bikes & helmets required. Tools for the Road: Bike Maintenance Clinic set for Thursday, April 7


GHS EveryWoman Cycling Team will host a free Bike Maintenance Clinic on Thursday, April 7, from 6:30-8PM at Carolina Triathlon (928 S. Main St.) in downtown Greenville.

Come learn basic bike maintenance skills that will keep you safe on the road. Discover easy procedures you can do with your own hands or a simple tool. Practice changing a tire. Learn what to cover as part of your pre-ride/safety checklist.

This is a hands-on clinic, so bring your own road and/or mountain bike. The evening will include light refreshments.

2010 Rock Hill Spring Bicycle Classic

With a new affiliation with the Nature Valley Pro Ride and selection process, the Rock Hill Bicycle Club’s Spring omnium — now in it’s 30th year — starts the season for cyclists in the Southeast! The Classic features 3 days of racing with prizes and points awarded to winners in each of 10 categories. Points are totaled and overall winners are awarded at the end of the last race.

The ladies of GHS Every Woman will be participating in the Road Race on Saturday April 10th.  Come on out and cheer for us!

Help Meals on Wheels feed the homebound of Greenville by participating and raising money for the Wheels for Meals event.  This cycling event is for the Newbie to the Hammerhead with distances of 25 miles, 40 miles, and a challenging metric century.

 

The Wheels for Meals Training Series calendar of events for 2010′s event include the following:
Saturday February 6 – Training Class @ 5:00pm at St. Francis Hospital (East End)

Saturday February 20 – Training Class @ 5:00pm at St. Francis Hospital (East End)

Saturday March 6 – Training Ride @ 10:30am at Furman University

Saturday March 20 – Training Ride @ 10:00am at Donaldson Center

Saturday April 3 – Training Ride @ 9:00am at Donaldson Center

Saturday April 17 – Training Ride @ 8:00am at Donaldson Center

Saturday April 24 – Wheels for Meals Cycling Event

 

There are currently night rides at 6 pm on Thursday evenings at ICAR during non-day light saving time.  During day light savings time, rides will be held out of Heritage Park in Simpsonville at 6 pm on Thursday nights.  There will also be a year-round Saturday schedule…details coming soon.

 

Registration fee is $35 until February 1st.

HeritageParkRides

Coach Jim Cunningham has a winter cycling series starting on Sunday, December 6th from Heritage park on 861 SE Main Street in Simpsonville. You can meet Jim at Heritage Park at 10 AM or meet at an optional starting point, RideON Bicycle shop on Woodruff road at 10 AM as well. Both groups will meet on the road and have a follow sag vehicle every week loaded with sports drinks, water, energy bars, etc. There’s a slight charge of $5 for each ride to cover sag gas and refreshments or you can pay $35 in advance for the series and save a few $$$. The pace will be a steady 18/19 with one to two store stops per ride.

Upstate Winter Bike League (UWBL)

The Upstate Winter Bike League is a series of winter training rides that take place in Greenville, South Carolina during December, January and February. These Events take place on scheduled Saturdays and start at Carolina Triathlon at 10 a.m. The store will open early for those last minute items (food, tubes, etc) All rides in December will be 3-4 hours (or less in cases of inclement weather). January rides will begin to increase to 5 hours. Each ride will have its own set of specific instructions. Check the UWBL Website for info before each event.  The current schedule of rides is as follows:

11/21 – Start shopping for those pink garden gloves ladies and come out to Women Build on November 21st!  We’re making a difference in the community and would love for you to join us for this day of team building through volunteer work!

11/15 – Ride for Thea – $20, Carolina Triathlon. 10 am for the 55 mile route, 12 pm for the 30 mile route.  Silent Auction to be held afterward.  All proceeds to benefit Thea and her medical bills due to a recent mountain biking crash.

9/13- 2pm GHS Every Woman hosts no rider left behind beginner ride from Carolina Triathlon Downtown.  About 22 miles, easy pace- come join us!

9/12 – Tour de Paws – Join the ladies of GHS Every Woman for this fun event for a great cause.  All rider fees go directly to the Spartanburg Humane Society and are used for the benefit of homeless, neglected and abandoned animals under our care.

8/30 – Join us to ride the GHS – US Professional Cycling Championships Road Course before the Pros Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m.  If you can’t register online, don’t worry, you can still register the morning of the ride.

Stars & Stripes Challenge

8/30 – Stop by the Greenville Hospital System Tent at the GHS US Professional Cycling Championships Sunday afternoon.  Meet some of the girls and learn what you can do to stay healthy!

8/29 – Come cheer on the GHS Every Woman team as we take on the South Carolina Road Race Championships!  Come one out to Fork Shoals Elementary and cheer us on.  GHS Every Woman members will be racing at 8:30.
