JoAnna Langdon has been riding since a young age when she learned about the sport from her father while the family was stationed in Germany with the US Army in the 80’s. She began to participate in triathlons while attending Belmont Abbey College where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation.
In 2008 JoAnna & her husband started Tri the Midlands, a sprint triathlon with Setup Events in the Go Tri Sports SC Triathlon series, which is now entering into its third year. She also completed her first 1/2 Ironman distance race, Beach to Battleship, in November 2009.
JoAnna’s favorite charity is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and through Tri the Midlands & Team in Training. She has raised over $10,000 for the LLS since participating in Team in Training in 2005 when her mother was first diagnosed.
Along with her husband and two children, Joanna moved to Greenville from Columbia, SC in June of 2008. Along with her career as a full time mom, she works as a part-time group fitness instructor at the Sports Club. JoAnna’s goals for this year are to learn as much as possible about racing and become a stronger rider.
