Diane Jackson believes in the strong, healthy potential of every woman.
A competitive swimmer as a child, Diane returned to the pool—part of an overall return to fitness—during college. She later added running to her routine; then, in 2007, she bought a bike so she could try a tri … and immediately fell in love with cycling for its own sake.
In the three years since, she’s logged nearly 9,000 road miles and the highlight thus far has been her first (though certainly not last) Assault on Mt. Mitchell. Goals for 2010 include a first-ever attempt at road racing, along with more centuries, triathlons and, of course, her greatest athletic passion of all: cheering for her two sons in the pool and on the soccer field.
Diane is a freelance journalist with a variety of professional accolades to her credit. As a Donne Pedala member, she hopes to encourage other women to join the cycling community. She says it’s never too late to hop on a bike, even if—indeed, especially if—you’re a middle-aged mom.
