Courtney McDonald is looking forward to her first season of racing in 2010 with the GHS Every Woman Cycling Team. An avid recreational cyclist for the past 8 years, she first discovered her love for the bike when she was coaxed into trying a triathlon on a loaner mountain bike. The next week Courtney was the proud owner of a shiny red Cannondale road bike (plus a job at the local bike shop) and has not stopped pedaling since. She has competed in many triathlons, from sprint distance to the Half-Ironman distance. In 2009 she placed second in her age group at the Callaway Gardens international distance triathlon.
Some of her favorite places to ride include the gaps of North GA, Caesar’s Head, and any of the numerous routes in the upstate that include climbing. This summer, Courtney will travel to France to see le Tour and ride some of the famous climbs in the Pyrenees Mountains.
A professional musician, Ms. McDonald is the principal percussionist with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra and freelances throughout the southeast performing with different orchestras.
